Grand Portage Camping

Any free places to camp near Grand Portage before taking the ferry to Isle Royale?

Not free, but not too expensive, we usually stay a Judge C. R Magney State Park.

Last year, the night before Isle Royale, I camped at Kimball Creek campsite on the superior hiking trail. It's free, hammockable, and only about a half mile hike from the trailhead on
Co. Rd. 14, about half way between Grand Marais and Magney State Park. It does mean a very early morning start on boat day; I think I got up about 5 AM.
