    Superior Hiking Trail Loop?

Are there any loop options on the SHT? I'm looking to head up to MN in mid july for about a week, and if i could find a loop that'd be great. From what i can tell is that the SHT is mostly just a linear trail so i've had trouble finding any loops on it or nearby.

Any suggestions? It doesnt have to be on the SHT. Just somewhere in norther MN preferably. 4-5 days on the trail probably, if its a smaller loop i could just take a rest day and enjoy the scenery.

If i do end up just doing the linear SHT, has anyone taken the shuttle and can share their thoughts on it?

The Shuttle is a great option and is on schedule. Only runs Friday through Sunday.
Harriet Quarles will pick you up and drop off anytime.
For hikers needing a shuttle to/from Cook County (the northernmost part of the trail), Harriet Quarles shuttles mid-May to mid-October with pickups at the bus station or airport in Duluth and going to locations in Schroeder and north.

Otherwise look at Snowbank Trail in BWCA.....https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...oZ84Q4gPR5tJzY

I'll second the Snowbank Trail or the Sioux Hustler Trail if you're looking for a remote loop. It doesn't get anymore remote. They are "wilderness" trails so some navigation skills are going to be necessary since there are no official markings other than cairns. If you're looking for solitude, the SHT is not what you are going to want. With the surge in popularity last few years, there's going to be a mass of humanity on it in mid July.

I did the Bean and Bear Lakes Loop last year, right outside Silver Bay.

Actually, I ended up hiking a couple miles the first day on ATV trails and getting back on SHT near Palisade Creek. That took two nights, but the hikes were pretty short. It's a beautiful area. I don't think I've seen better views in Minnesota than the ones from the top of Round Mountain.

I tried following the Snowbank trail and got lost straight away, not an easy trail to follow. The only loops on the SHT are short but, since Hwy 61 parallels the trail for a good part of its length, when your done with your hike just hitch back to the car, or take the shuttle. A nice trip is Skou Rd to Lindskog Rd. Afterwards, you can crash in Grand Marais on pizza and doughnuts!

Oooooo my second favorite breakfast cafe on the planet. The only place I can get biscuits and gravy then not want to take a 2 hour nap afterwards.
