    Increased "for sale" threads

Given my track record for selling, I should be the last person saying this...but it seems like there's been a lot of stuff for sale lately. Really good stuff too! There can't be many crazy people like me "buying and trying" just because! I wonder if it's people not liking hanging in general? Lost interest? Replacing for something new and improved?

I guess with more members in general, it only makes sense to see more in the for sale area.

I've noticed that too lately. Looking back to when I first joined, it seemed that if anyone offered an TQ or UQ, it was gone within the hour. I think now that hanging is more popular, there's just that much more gear in the pipeline looking for new homes.

I've fallen for that "sell the old and buy the improved" a few times and I must resist the temptation....

I've been a part of the problem for sure, but I have enjoyed some awesome gear via the for sale section! My wife doesn't gripe about my constant shuffle of gear, as she says it could be worse (yep, she's a keeper)! What it has done is help me figure out what exactly I prefer as far as gear goes!

I've noticed too and think it is just the "try it, change it up, upgrade it" thing - with the increase due to more members into our hobby????

I have to hide my new gear and then sneakily say...Huh? I've had that for a while...

I remember the days of people watching the for sale section just waiting for a Warbonnet hammock. Now stuff stays in the for sale section for a while before it is sold. I like to hold on to my old stuff as pass it down to my sons as they get older. It the past week I have ordered a new Hammock, top quilt, UnderQuilt, tarp, water filter, backpack, and a bunch of Dutch bling. I think I have an addiction🤣
We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all.

I've finally started to wean myself off lately. Actually, I mostly replaced fun purchases with boring/more practical everyday items. But I guess that could still be argued given the present company

It's evolution. I mean here I am, gear for all seasons, perfectly fine. But then I read a response to UnStuck's thread on getting started and find out about an EE Rev H.E. 30deg 950 FP w/7D shell. I owe it to the hammock community to see if this works better - wider comfort range - than my 40 degree top quilt. But I do try to discipline myself somewhat - "Don't buy anything unless I sell something. ..." etc. There are no classes (yet) in our community college for hammock camping. So the dollar difference between the purchase price and the sale price is the cost of education. Also, this forum has given me so much, if I can pass a good bargain on to another hammocker, it's sort of payback. Or Pay Forward, or sideways.

Keep buying and trying people. I like picking up the hand me downs!

TOO FUNNY!!! THAT’S PRECISELY WHAT I DO, TOO!!! It’s rougher on those of us who have spouses that hate hammocks and hiking and camping and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. It makes us closet collectors—LOL!
