    Zipper sizes?

As many know, I am not an UL Back packer, I am a kayak camper.
I go for robust over light weight.
I have a good 5-6 Hennesy Hammocks, including a Jungle Safari.
I Really like the Zipper on the Safari,, it is BIG and robust, no fear of damaging that thing.
I just received the WBBB XLC for my son, very nice lay. But the zipper is a little on the "light weight" side for my liking, don't get me wrong, love the hammock.

I will be ordering a "custom" hammock for me later this summer (not sure from whom yet),, but I definitely want the larger safari zipper.
Any idea what size number that zipper is?
how does one go about identifying the size number on a zipper?

Also, on the WBBB the zipper has to meet in a specific spot along the zipper, were as the safari (and all my 2QZQ) zippers are "meet anywhere" what is the terminology for a zipper that meets anywhere on the track?

    Thanks,
    Slack

Those Hennesy zippers are way beyond overkill in size. I set mine up the other day and remembered one of the reasons I do not like it is due to the zipper. I have been using BlackBirds for about 8+ years now have yet to have a zipper issue.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I can not lie,, I like a big zipper

I just found a reference, the Safari zipper is a #10 size,,, OK maybe I will go with a #8 size

#5 is the biggest I use in gear that I make, such as a robust zipper for a pack lid closure. I use #3 probably 90% of the time which is for pack strap pockets or bug nets. My personal approach is to only use a larger zipper where more strength is required since they are heavier and more expensive. #3 zippers can be difficult due to the small size of the pulls, but I solve that by adding these:

Of course, if weight is no issue and you like the feel of the larger zipper, there's absolutely no reason that I can think of not to use it.

I have seen #10 zipper sleds, and I don't think that the Hennessy zippers are size 10. I believe they are #5. The number should be stamped on the sled.

That said, I think the HH zippers are way oversized. I have #3 YKK zippers on all my high-end hammocks, Tarptents, and most of my clothes. So far I haven't had one fail on me, yet. Even the one on a Windstopper jacket that I have been wearing about 3-6 months a year for the last 15 years is still holding up surprisingly well.

Hennessy uses the #10, #8 & #5 zippers depending on the size and fabric of their hammocks. The Safari is probably the #10. Most of the Hennessy's have the #5. We use the #5.
