White Elephant Survey results:
Question 1: Did you participate in the DaShack's 2017 White Elephant Gift Exchange?
Yes: 4
No: 3
No response: 1
Question 2: Would you participate in a 2018 White Elephant Gift Exchange?
Yes: 4
No: 1
Maybe, I don't know, or I don't care: 3
Question 3: Is there anything you'd like to see stay the same or changed in regards to the White Elephant Gift Exchange?
- I go to these hangs more for the hanging part than the social interaction. But that's just me.
- Cheaper than $20 or make it not a white elephant and just useful items.
- Nope! The WEE was a hoot...
- I think it was fine as is. Perhaps provide some guidance/ tips on gift suggestions
- No comment
- Add a consolation gift for each time that someone's gift is stolen - like a can of cheap beer or a cookie - but otherwise the guidelines worked well. It would be interesting to see if someone ended up with a six-pack or a plate of cookies.
- It was good. Keep the same.
Analysis:
- Of the 4 who responded who took part in the exchange, all four would do it again
- Of the 4 who responded who did not take part, only one would not participate next year. The rest might.
My recommendation is to do it again next year with these changes:
- emphasize the gift should be under $20
- list some examples of gifts from last year
- If the group participating is larger than 10, add Add a consolation gift for each time that someone's gift is stolen - like a can of cheap beer or a cookie - but otherwise the guidelines worked well. It would be interesting to see if someone ended up with a six-pack or a plate of cookies.
