I have used my Chameleon top cover under my Superfly. In was windy and rainy and it made a difference temperature wise. I didn't have any condensation issues.
For deep cold a cotton over cover is the only way to go.
But in reality I would only use it under cold blizzard/windy conditions to keep the spin drift/wind out of the hammock.
Otherwise buy and have the necessary quilts on hand for given temps plus a buffer.
Use a tarp to keep the dewy frost off your hammock as exposure to clear calm skies can amplify frost production big time.
Cold camping requires moisture management on all levels or you can get in trouble quick.

I'm just going to carry it for a while and try it... it doesn't weigh a bunch and it is easy enough to zip in and out.
In summer you can get away with going as light as possible.
In winter, especially if you’re on a mountain trail, you’re better off carrying a pound or two extra and not use it vs being caught in an unpredicted cold spell and not have it.
