    I won a Chameleon!

That's right - I won a 1.6 Hexon Chameleon in Woodland Camo (with Beetle Buckles) at the 2nd Annual Loco Libre Hang this weekend. I've been eyeing the Chameleon for a while.

I've expressed my dislike of hammocks with integrated bugnets over the years on HF, and I've definitely expressed some opinions on the whole "you can't see me" thing with camo fabrics. And don't get me started on zippers. However, when I saw this hammock in the raffle, I thought, "I'm gonna win that." There were two 20* Loco Libre top quilts I could have chosen when my number was called, but I wanted the Chameleon. Needless to say, there were many at the hang, who know me well, that were shocked I would pick the Chameleon.

I can live with the camo - nobody will ever see the camo under my HG Winter Palace tarp. I can even live with the zippers, because I can remove the bugnet entirely if I want. I'm probably going to buy a topcover as well - maybe Burnt Orange, Moroccan Blue or Deep Purple (or maybe even Woodland Camo, though it costs $2 extra).

Dutch gave a tour of the hammock before the raffle, then he gave me another tour after I won ("I know you weren't listening to the previous demo," he said, but I was). The Beetle Buckles seem nice, though I'm not sure I need Dyneema/Polypro straps that are 15 ft. long. I'll give this suspension a try, but I might convert to a Dutch Whoopie Hook suspension since I have that on all my other hammocks.

The hammock even came with a peak bag, and Dutch says he's coming out with other accessories.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know the Chameleon - just have to get over this zipper phobia!

Congrats again. And yes, for all those reasons, we were surprised you picked it.

I first bought $20 of raffle tickets, but after about 45 minutes, I thought, "I should buy another $20 to increase my chances of winning the Chameleon." I did, and one of those tickets gave me the win!

During his pre-raffle demo, Dutch told us the hammock was set up for a head right, feet left configuration, but you could flip the bugnet and move the tie-outs and the hammock would be head left, feet right. I do believe in premonitions, and since I prefer head right, feet left, I thought it was a sign that the hammock was already configured the way I like, and I was destined to win that hammock!

Haha congrats SS. A leopard actually can change his spots, apparently!

Make sure we get a comprehensive review after you've tested her out!

    Congrats!

I haven't decided if I'll like Zippers or not..
I haven't used any hammocks with them as of yet.
Keep us posted on your opinions of zipper-phobia after a few hangs in it!

    Flip the net.
    Not the hammock.

Congratulations on winning the Chameleon, SS.

You have passionately expressed your opinions on several aspects of a hammock in the past. And that passion has brought you full circle. I too have tried zipper hammocks and still don't own a zippered hammock but can see myself getting one.

Soon you will be passionately hollering from the Pine Barrens about how great 10 lbs of accessories for the Chameleon need to be had by everyone

    Enjoy your new ride.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
