    Another Hammock Death in MN

    Breaks my heart.
A 5 year old boy was killed in a hammock playing with his siblings. One of the trees uprooted and fell and hit him. http://www.twincities.com/2017/10/18...uprooted-tree/
We all need to be more vigilant on choosing trees. Preaching to choir on here but the general population seems not to know enough about choosing and checking the health of a tree before stringing up the hammock.

That's terribly unfortunate news. You are right that we all need to spread our knowledge of how to enjoy hammocks safely to the general public. Thanks for all you do to raise awareness.

Sad..Hard to believe that a 7ft tall tree could be deadly.

I know the pain of burying a child before her time. Mine was 23, from a long illness and the passing ended years of pain for her. Yet, it was still the saddest day of my life. I can not imagine the suffering this family is going through losing a young healthy child through an accident like this. Whoever hung this hammock and any who allowed the children to play in it, will blame themselves the rest of their life. My sympathy to them for their loss and for their doubts that will haunt them. May God bless them.

    That's horrible.

I had a pine wedged into another tree forming a huge triangle. I was tempted to hang there as it all seemed very solid. Yesterday it was on the ground in pieces.
    Scary stuff.
