I was thinking about the tarp. and an old thread that I read of Gadet's....
He had a unified suspension that he was playing with that had both the ridgeline, and a continous tarp line above it....
Wondering how that might work here...
Oh, I totally love the name flytrap, but "Venus" for short. As in Venus fly trap.
Then I would have made a logo with planet Venus in the background with the Venus hammock stand outline over it.

I really want to scrap all my plans for the day and noodle with this concept.
I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.
As long as you make video, I say scrap those plans and noodle away Jellyfish!
I too and loving the name, venus fly trap. Let's remember that a tarp would only be necessary for desert hikers. For lounging in a hammock, I always set it up in the shade anyway, even if it is melted on a stand . And indoor use certainly doesn't need the tarp.

Did some math, and I hope to attempt this weekend with:
88" pole length (actually 8'=96" wood tree stakes, but since I plan to lash together, I need to subtract a few inches from each end. 2" diameter FYI)
118" hammock (so practically 10')
Playing with the online Ultimate Hang calculator, the following combination results in 30 degree hang angle:
118" hammock (implies 102" SRL)
9'=108" between "trees" - which, in this context, will be the upper vertices of the "end" triangles formed by 2 poles and the "tension strap"
3.4" suspension length (just about what my continuous loop will provide)
7" sit height gets me a 38.2" hang point (important below)
If I dust off my trig, and if I combine 88" poles with the presumption that the plane of each "end" triangle should form a 30 degree angle w the ground, the 38.2" hang point can be formed if the "tension strap" in the center is also about 88" long. Equilateral triangle seems like a good place to start! If anything I may try narrower, to get a bit more sit height. (There's not much sit height to gain if the 30 degree angle is to be preserved).
The 7" sit height is a little low, but is a good safety feature for now. (Full disclosure: I'll "let" the 110lb son have the first try, before the 240lb me.) Plus we'll get a few more inches from the sharpened ends of the tree stakes below the lashings.
While the hammock & pole lengths match your dimensions, Latherdome… perhaps there's something I'm missing because:
* you had a lot more suspension length
* you had a lot more sit height
Also, I think I'll try some "loose" guylines (& ridgeline) , in order to see which ones "tighten" when the hammock is loaded. Perfect balance = none are very tight I think.
Hope to be posting pictures perhaps Sunday.
