Not anywhere near where we are camping...relatively speaking. Great place if you are headed to Bodine Field, Godfrey Bridge or Hawkins Bridge campgrounds as well as a number of private campgrounds in the area.
If you want to buy wood, stop by Mighty Joe’s on Rt 206. Can’t miss it, there’s a 20 foot tall gorilla out front.
Russo’s Farm Market, downtown Tabernacle, often has 1/4 cords out front for the ambitious, sometimes smaller amounts. And there are other places nearby.
That said, I’ll be loading the truck as usual and maybe the trailer as well.

Speaking of firewood, is anyone headed out early, say tomorrow, so I can drop wood at the site?
Don’t want to leave it with the site 9 interloopers nearby. Ha.
If not Thr, anyone getting there early Friday?

Want to make a minor amendment, there is a scenic series of dirt roads through the woods that get you from A to B should you wish to do that. Not sure what the GPS will tell you but the route would be from Mick’s canoe rental to Godfrey Bridge, on past, make the right to Hawkins Bridge and then steady on direct to Caranza memorial and a right back to camp.
There are of course some other routes for the intrepid but we recently lost a bridge due to some moron running something pretty heavy over a small bridge, so not all routes are open. Again, just speaking about the route should you wish to pickup firewood from down next to Mick’s canoe rental.
The regular routes into Batona are fine, Forked Neck, Caranza, rt 206 etc, all good.
