VIDEO: Warbonnet Blackbird XLC Hammock Review

I cannot believe it took us so long to get this one out. This was the first hammock we ever purchased, and what got us into hammock-camping initially. There is nothing quite like the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. A great hammock that has stood the test of time, and continues to deliver. We have both spent well over two dozen nights in our blackbirds.

Our Favorite Feature is without a DOUBT the shelf. While the peak shelf on the chameleon satisfies the need, there is nothing as unique and practical as that shelf. Even after years of use, the only real issue is that one of Andy's cord locks (on a tie out) is not holding tension (which is an easy fix).

Great job on this video review. That shelf is an amazing part of this hammock and is what makes it stand out among others.

I started out with a HH Expedition after I moved from cheap hammocks but quickly realized I didn't like several things about it and sold it to get my XLC. Right away I was amazed at how comfortable it was compared to the Exped and how even though the HH has the asym pull outs the XLC feels roomier. The shelf is awesome for storing just about anything I need and the winter cover really helps to block out the frigid Chesapeake bay winter wind and hold in just enough extra warmth. I have an XL travel sock too and still use the hammock w/ the WC on most of the time when its below 30° or so instead of the sock. The craftsmanship is second to none and mine has stood up to a hellacious raccoon attack, winter Nor'easter, high winds, heavy rains and every other weather condition here, and with only a little tenacious tape to fix the 'coon damage is still going strong. I may get other hammocks, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of my XLC!

The cat cameo was great. Your comments about the XLC are spot on - but I am biased since it was my first hammock purchase.

My first hammock and still the best. With the possible exception of my new
    Ridge runner. So comfy!

My only complaint is that Colorado patch right where I want to look out! Move that thing somewhere else!
