Colorado day hike suggestions (Golden and Boulder area)

I'll be driving to Golden and Boulder to do some day hiking the first week of October. I've began researching the numerous day hike options, but I want to ask the members here which trails they would suggest. I won't be bushwhacking or climbing. I will be car camping, so any suggestions on a camp site area would also be truly appreciated (the ones I've researched so far are Reverends Ridge Campground and Indian Paintbrush Campground).

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

I'll be watching this thread as well as I'm heading to Denver on the 31st of this month and spending a couple of days in Estes Park.

I stayed at Peaceful Valley Campground when I was out near Boulder. I didn't have a hammock at the time though. They had pit toilets, but no showers, so depends want you are looking for I guess. That campground was small. Farther up the road was a bigger campground with awesome sites on the edges, but open sites in the middle with few trees. First come, first serve so not reservable ahead of time. It was in between RMNP and Boulder. Should be quite a few other campgrounds in the area as well as free dispersed camping if you can find it.

The Flatirons were cool for hiking, but definitely crowded, at least in summer.

There are 2 campgrounds at White Ranch which is in the general area you will be. Also check out Eldorado Canyon, Gross Resevoir and Rainbow Lakes.

    Golden Gate Canyon State Park

    Their website:

My own fall pictures during aspen changing time. Mtn Bike are allowed on all the hiking trails.

If you happen to be there during peak aspen watching time(it is different every year) you will want to have a car camping spot reserved. They have every type of camping from RV to primitive hike in.
Oh there is very little level in this park you are either hiking up or down all the time. You nedd to bring good lungs and legs. haha

I suggest the Hiking Project app, it'll show a bunch of day hikes around whatever area you land in.
Book a site now. October might not be as busy but around here you'll have to book your site 2-3 months ahead of schedule for most popular areas.
