Think we'll venture down for this as well.

So update from me: of the 3 people I’ve invited my friend Pat said he is free that weekend and is interested in coming (I didn’t get a definitive yes but I didn’t want to press too hard so I’ll call him 90%), my brother is a definite no, and my dad is most likely a no as well. I’ll try to update the sign up sheet when I get home.

Just talked to the folks at PWFP. Good news is both A and B loops will be open. Meaning should be plenty of room to spread out. Also some sites in B loop can be reserved. I will try and get a couple next to the area we usually are. B:20-25 A:25-35.

Dissapointing news: their guidelines say 2 hammocks per site. I know in the past we put more. Most sites really dont have trees for too many anyway. I would say if you have more spread out as best you can. This rule has been in effect in the past and they havent said anything. I know I usually have 4-5. But I will get two this year.

I just realized that the observed Veterans Day holiday is friday so there will be other campers coming in Thursday. If there are any of us who can get there early to help stake out our area it would be great.

That's fairly ridonkulous. Hopefully, they don't push it too much like they haven't in the past. I wonder what inspired them to mention it this time...

I went ahead and booked B22 and 23. They'll cover me and the folks I'm dragging along. We know we're going to need the space anyway.

Food, folks! We seriously need more folks to bring stuff for Saturday pot luck. I switched my desert over to an entrée since the list was looking so sparse.

Decided to actually look at reservation map. All of B loop is open except for 4 sites plus the two Wonderlost just took. I will get two. I know the park wont fill up (hasn’t in the past even when just A loop was open) I’m just going to play it safe.
If you have a larger group may be a good idea. Singles can group up while you are there.
I wish I knew what the sites in B loop looked like. Which are best for hammocks.

I'm working right in Dumfries. Give me an hour or so and I'll take a quick drive and scout them out.

Went over and did a little site recon on the higher B sites near the A loop.

B25 - Some trees. 2 hammocks wouldn't be an issue, three could be creatively done. Site is shallow and backs up to horseshoe pits.
B24 - adjacent to the bath house. Almost 0 trees to hang from. Very small site.
B22/23 - Mine - "Joined" sites for all intents and purposes. Decent trees. 2-3 hammocks per site
B21 - Deep with good trees. Backs up to horsehoe pits. 3+ hammocks
B20 - Also deep with good trees. 3-4 hammocks
B19 - very deep with plenty of trees. 4-5 hammocks without issue

Note the hammock estimates are based on trees, not the rules.
