Yes, money spent --- and successful trip!

    IMG_0698 (Small).JPG

I wanted to post a final thank you for all the good advice. Ultimately the winter tarp was essential on one of the nights where the wind kept clocking around. It's much easier to close some door flaps than to rehang a tarp!

The underquilt worked pretty good - but I had to tie up the elastics to the ridgeline to get a good seal at the end... probably because this is a longer than normal hammock. The coldest night (right at freezing) alerted me to the fact that I was loosing warmth somewhere. It wasn't until the next day when my campsite allowed the sun to hit the hammock that I noticed the gap between the UQ and hammock -- but now I think I'm all set for many warm sleeps on cold nights in the future.

    Thanks again!

Jamie - I found the addition of an under quilt protector (UQP - about $30 from 2QZQ) adds just enough warmth. Setting up alone, it is difficult to be in the hammock and see how well the bungees are adjusted. The UQP makes that setting less critical. Note that the UQP doesn't have to cover the whole length of the hammock; it just has to cover the Bottom Quilt. Because it covers the ends of the quilt, they don't have to be snugged up so precisely. Also, I recall one video that showed if the ends were really cinched up, and you were in a diagonal lie (of course), that snugness actually caused a gap. If the ends were a little slacker, they'd conform more to the shape of the hammock (which is being spread out a little because of the diagonal). The extra bulk/weight of the UQP is hardly anything. Plus it does keep thing a little cleaner when the hammock suspension slips out of your hand and the setup lands of the ground (or so I've been told )
