Need help for Adirondacks Limekiln Lake hammocking.

Long story short, I'm bringing my RV to Limekiln Lake Campground at the end of July and camping with my in-laws. There will be 8 childern under the age of 9 and only 6 adults. Outnumbered to say the least.

Ideally one night I want to kayak across the lake and island camp in my hammock. Can't find any info if this is allowed. Calling the campground itself wasn't any help.

The islands aren't private land, and I'm sure I could stealth camp, but would rather be legal.

There is also a trailhead off the lake i could paddle to and camp off that trail in the Moose River Plains Wilderness, but I'd rather solo island camp, something I've never done.

It's prob a long shot if anyone can help, but I thought I'd ask.

Every day is a good day.

I've been camping at Limekiln on and off since I was a kid and my understanding was that the islands were public lands.

I would think that your only possibility there is the biggest island. In NY, you can camp anywhere on state forest land as long as you maintain 150' distance from water, trail or road.

As far as I can tell, the island itself is only about 150 ft wide or less, so it looks like I wouldn't be able to camp there. I'll try calling the local DEC office to confirm.
