    PCT in Washington

I 'm an avid hiker. I section hiked he AT and used a Warbonnet Blackbird. I am going to hike the WA section of the PCT in August. I want to hammock WA, but would like some input from hammockers who have experience in this section. Any info will help.

    Bring long tree straps.

I love you. I'm so jelly. Good luck. Lots of trees in the area. Old growth can get really wide so bring lots of rope.

    Agreed!
I bring long straps and some UCRs in case those are too short. I use a soft shackle to add them onto the straps. PNW trees eat a lot of suspension length.

Always have a way to protect yourself from rain. Weather can change really fast. Welcome from a fellow Washingtonian!

Thanks for the input. 40 years as a carpenter has worn my shoulders, and I sleep like a log in my Blackbird. I use a Mambajamba fly, and have stayed dry in the heaviest of rainstorms. I can use it on the ground when needed, but only twice on the AT did I need to. Extension straps sound like a good idea. Looking to go south from the CAN border to OR.
