UGQ tarp and Tato tarp connectors

    Guys,
I have a continuous ridge line with the Tato tarp connectors and I like them but today I was rigging this on my new UGQ tarp and they will not work. The "rings" on the UGQ tarp are to small for the Tatos to go into so my question is what are my options. I guess I could replace the rings but I've not seen any place to purchase these so I'm open for other ideas.

Are they split rings? If so take the tato connector to your local hardware store and match new split rings that work for you. On the other hand if they d rings you can tie small continuous loop out of zing/lash-it and larks head the loops to d rings then slide tato tarp connectors into said tiny CL's.

Let us know if that helped you out any.

Good ideas. I believe these are called split rings as there are two tiny rings that look like key rings and I'm thinking about ordering one 3/4" key ring that will work in their place. What are the benefits of having two? Is it for strength? Would one key ring work in their place? I may try to make a tiny continuous loop but I lack any patience and those look like they would be hard to make. I also realize a small piece of zing/lash-it tied in a knot would work as well but the beauty of the ring would be the Tato connector will not slide out as easily.

Yeah! A split ring is the same thing as a key chain ring. They are usually used as a "fuse" in a system. The ring will deform or fail completely, thus saving your tarp from ripping out. But tato tarp connectors have shock cord for that reason and others i suspect. Sp split rings are a redundancy, but that can be a good thing.

Amazon carries a ton of split rings in numerous sizes. I believe ugq uses a 12mm size. If you wanted to continue using them with the tato connector you could buy a larger size there

That's exactly what I did. I ordered some heavy duty 3/4" split rings to replace the two small ones on the tarp.

I removed all the split rings from mine and just use the webbing loop sewn on the hammock to attach my Ridgeline and guy out Line loc 3 to.

Maybe a continuous loop can work.

So I ended up ordering 3/4" heavy duty split key rings nickel plated *LOT OF 10* - Made in the USA! from Tornado Heavy Equipment Parts on EBay and they work perfectly.
