Beach hammock camping somewhere on the east coast?

I'm looking for ideas on where to go to a beach on the east coast where it would be hammock camping friendly. Are there parks located on/very close to a beach that I don't know about that have trees? Maybe in the Carolinas? There is Chincoteague in Maryland, but there are no places to hang - I've been there. I also grew up in Jersey and I'm familiar with the shore - there's basically no public outdoor areas near the beach where you could camp.l I'm willing to drive, so I'm pretty open to a location.

Does a place like this exist? I'm looking to combine my love of the beach and hammock camping.

    Thanks!

We have a few state parks on the beach here in South Carolina. Try looking at Edisto Beach State park or Huntington Beach State park. Edisto is about 45minutes south of Charleston and Huntington is close to Myrtle Beach. Happy hanging.

Some of the NJ folk have talked about camping at Sandy Hook in the past. Apparently you aren't allowed to hang from any trees - if there are even any to find - but there are some pavilion/shelters that it is possible to hang from (using the overhead support beams). If I remember correctly, the rangers were even the ones that suggested they do that (a stand was brought, but not needed).

Thank you! I'll definitely look into those. How late into the year (October, November, December?) can you comfortably swim in the ocean that far south, do you think?

Ha! I definitely want to get there someday... but I'm specifically referencing the ocean beaches! I love the ocean.

I just read the thread and checked out the area. I never knew camping was in that area. Thanks!

Island beach state park in NJ. It's the southern tip of seaside island exit 82 off the parkway. You could almost throw a rock across the inlet and hit the barnegat lighthouse. If you tried to throw a rock across the bay you'd hit my house.

There's the Oregon Inlet campground in Nags Head North Carolina. There are no trees so you'd have to bring a stand, but its right on the beach.
