    Underquilt for 2

Hi everyone! This is my first post/question, so please point me in the right direction if I'm asking this question in the wrong place, or if there is an earlier thread discussing this topic. My girlfriend and I have planned a trip to ADK around Easter weekend, due to it being somewhat early in the season I am looking to finally commit to an underquilt. We can sleep pretty comfortable together in my XLC, however I'm wondering if the HG Phoenix 40 or jarbridge river would work for two. My main concerns are shifting of the quilt with movement and "cramming". Any advice is appreciated, I look forward to the information I can find here and sharing pictures of setups and sites with you in the future! Happy hangs!

    Cramming???
May take a custom made wider quilt. With some fiddling could work.

My underquilts cover me, and just me. I can't imagine you'd be able to cover 2 people. Since you're looking at a 3/4 underquilt you'd need a pad for you feet, which I don't know how well that would work for 2 people.

I would think a full length underquilt would be better, and the widest one you can get. I know my quilts cover my shoulders, and if there were 2 people, one person would be cold.

Have you ever slept an entire night with 2 people in the hammock? I can see taking a nap, but around these parts it's really considered near impossible to actually sleep 2 people in a hammock.

Every day is a good day.

You guys sleep touching each other? Impressive. You must not be married. My wife is roughly the same temperature of hot lava. Good for you, though for being hot-lava-proof

As pointed out not many sleep full time double in a hammock. For a short while yes, but most don't all night long. If it works for you congrats, you saved overall on gear weight and bulk.

We have had several folks over the years ask for quilts sized for double sleeping. As Shug mentioned a custom width is best and as Speedogomer mentioned partial length quilts are a pain in the rear for this. We recommend the New River in a custom width. Pick the length that fits the taller of you two and then get in touch for a custom wide version. It runs $10 extra but will give you more room to get fully covered and you're not trying to situate a foot pad for each of you.

UGQ sells a 48" wide version of the Zeppelin. I don't know if this width is sufficient, though. You could always pick your favorite underquilt design and ask if the vendor would be willing to make a custom wide version. I once contacted HammockGear for an XXL underquilt, and they would have been willing to make one for me. I'm pretty sure that Locolibre and Wilderness Logics would do the same.
