I still enjoy winter camping but as I grow older, I limit myself to minimal distance from where I park. There are just as many trees, just as enjoyable and mostly stress free.

You're totally right. It is just tougher to go farther in the winter. Everything about winter backpacking is more work. The hiking, the gear weighs more and the days are shorter. Once you get out there though, it is a very different experience than in other times of year. Thanks for watching!
