Gonna do my first hammock hang in a few weeks. Gonna do a 3 day hike in the Smokies. Been reading a lot about setting up, so it should be an adventure. I will post an update on my thoughts after the hike.

Welcome from NJ. I'm sure you have read the advice....sleep in the back yard to test and trouble shoot your gear before going out. Also, gear up for colder nights than expected. Good luck!

Welcome Money to Hammock Forums. Have you test hung in the backyard before venturing off for the first time? Let us know if you have any questions and be sure to post a trip report when you return.
Welcome from northern Arkansas! A test hang is always helpful! Can't wait to hear how it all works for you!
I did do a test hang the other week. It was 27 deg f with a wind chill of 21 deg f. I used my thermarest neo air mat, and my 12 deg down bag. Slept in a t- shirt, shorts, and some socks that my girls gave me for Christmas. The only thing that got a little cold was my toes. Figure I will stuff my puffy jacket in the foot is to help while hanging. All of this was done using a hammock rack. I have not hung with trees yet, but I plan on going out next weekend and actually set it up on trees. I have taken screen shots of the hammock hang calculated on the ultimate hang website, so I think I will be ok. I will post a trip report after the hike, along with pics. Thanks for the advice I have read on this forum, and the warm welcome.
Welcome! I'm sure you will have fun!
