Once upon a time, I put a pair of snake skins on my Hennessy Explr Dlx. I kept the asym tarp right in there with the hammock and tie-outs. Later I moved to the HH hex, which I skinned separately, and took the asym off the hammock. Because of the tie-out pockets and D rings on the Hex, I was thinking about making a single, less tapered, skin for it since the tapers are fairly tight on my factory skins. But then that got me thinking...
Has anyone ever made a skin for their gathered end (not all-in-one) hammock AND insulation? I was thinking that for 3 season use, it might just be possible to toss the UQ on top of the TQ, wrap the hammock body around them and skin it all together. I wouldn't expect a 0*F down quilt set with overfill to compress easily in this manner, but a Jarbidge and and a 40* synth TQ might. I'd likely do this with two skins instead of a single, and the bubble might make me reconsider, but I wonder if this is feasible or already disproven?
On an unrelated note, I pulled that old Hennessy out, put it up in the basement, and found my Petzl Tac-tikka headlamp lark's headed to the ridgeline! I've been looking for that headlamp since we moved houses over 3 years ago!
Thanks!
