After many kite bags and stuff sacks, I found that I like to lay the draw cord in position as I fold the material over. Saves a lot of effort insetting it later. Also with it already in I can use it as a guide for feeding the material through under the foot. The cord will rest along the side of the foot making the seam almost a perfect even distance from the edge.
Also I will first fold over 1" of material then fold 1/2 ". This gives me a double layer of material on the edge. I've had too many sacks were the edge is the first place to show wear. I actually fold the folded edge just past the cut edgethen sew through four layers but the cut edge is unexposed.
