Looking that way, isn't it? It's all good, the more the merrier.

It doesn't matter to me. How many days out are you thinking of hiking?

NOBO or SOBO you are going to park in Damascus and get a shuttle out to the starting point.... so the drive distance shouldn't really matter.

I don't know why I voted. It's unlikely I would have the opportunity to meet up with you guys.

It would be my pleasure to make my way through Alabama! Although I'm a Gator

Dancer is right, we'll probably all gather in Damascus for the shuttle before the hike, so drive time isn't a big deal.

I've got a friend in Damascus who does shuttles, but we may have to outsource for our shuttle, depending on the number of hikers who go. Shuttle shouldn't cost us much more than $10-$20 per person, depending on where we need shuttled to and how many of us there are.

It's looking more and more like this will be a NOBO hike if we go with majority rule. What do y'all think? 3 days to hike, starting Wednesday, arriving in Damascus on Friday? Or would you rather get there on Thursday?

As far as distance, I'm thinking 25-30 miles or so, but not dead set on that. Any other ideas? Bearpaw or Cannibal, where do you guys think a good starting point for this would be if we're hiking NOBO? If we hike SOBO, I think starting at Massie Gap or Grayson Highlands would be good. Any other ideas? Bueller? Bueller?

I'd rather get in on Thursday myself, just so a nice spot can be guaranteed and allow for some time hiccups. I'll do what the group thinks best. How many miles a day you thinking?

Probably 8-10. I'm a slow hiker and not a big mile guy at all. I just like to get out there and enjoy the walk.

I've got about 4 guide books around here somewhere, but can't find a darn one of them right now. I found the headlight I've been looking for though.

Still looking, be back in a while.
