Men's Outdoor Research Linchpin Hooded Jacket

Size Medium (I'm about 165lb, 5'9", 40" chest and it's a comfortable fit with light-midweight shirt underneath)

This thing is AWESOME!! But I just don't wear it enough to justify the price. It needs a good home! Excellent condition, no wear to speak of and only worn a few times on short hikes. The new version has a few changes (fewer options) but in a Windstopper material. That one retails for $295. I think my version is better, personally.

I can't find info on this older version for some reason. Is the Ventia fabric waterproof/windproof?

I know I had a hard time getting info. Can't find my order info. I'm 95% sure I have the model name right. Regarding the fabric, I believe part of the jacket is waterproof/windproof, other parts just windproof. So shoulders and hood waterproof, the rest water resistant, if that makes sense. Unfortunately I can't say for sure which parts, just a guess looking at the fabric. They also have a Ventia Dry fabric that is waterproof, but not on this jacket.

Bottom line - not a rain jacket to hike in for hours of rain. More for dry or crap-weather days (fog, drizzle, cold, wind). Knocks down the wind like nobody's business.

OKay thanks. I think I'll pass. Not looking for a non waterproof shell that has the need for a zip vent, kind of makes me thing I'm going to have a lot of perspiration collecting on the inside and not even have the full waterproof ability.

Yeah, this would be more of a wind barrier, similar to Gore Windstopper (popular material for cycling and running due to the high aerobic activity). Definitely feels breathable to me, but honestly I just haven't used this much. Check out the OR Revel jacket if you want 100% waterproof and a full torso zip/pit zip.
