Tarp works well when you can not Hang for some reason. I have started people camping with just a tarp for coverage. Granted it was before I became a Hanger.
    Sending a PM.

Well I took the advice of all and came up with this.
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-Hammock-Stand

And this is what is looks like.
Right now I have para cord as my guy lines, but I think I'm gonna go amsteel. It stretches quite a bit.

I'm pretty much the same, however, the hammock is always set up ready if my back can't take the camping mattress anymore. I also use it to stretch out in the afternoons to nap or play my guitar.

Basically, if I'm camping, there's a hammock on site.

As someone else stated, knots are a great thing to learn and also to teach the scouts. Heck, I learned how to lash three poles together at a Girl Scout daddy/daughter camping weekend! Each group then had to lash a tripod, hang a pot, then make a fire with only two matches and you had to get the soap water to boil over first to win. Silly other groups spent all their time finding twigs. I suggested to my daughter and the other girl in our group that they go find as much fallen birchbark as possible. We TOTALLY won that competition!! Lol! Oh, back to the original post, given learning to lash poles together, I have a desire to make a tripod out of saplings soon. Probably use a metal ridge pole though, just because I have a friend who can get aluminum tubing for me at his work very cheap. Like $15 for a 12' piece of 1" square tubing!

Nice solution you made though. Definitely go for the Amsteel tieouts with spliced loops. Go on YouTube to learn how to make fixed loops. A piece of wire and a utility knife is all you need and it is SO much easier than I EVER expected!! Addictive too...

Not only is it a great place to hang if you build it well, it's also an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the value of pioneering skills to the scouts. All of the knots are covered in the Scout Handbook, IIRC.
If this is Scouting outing the poles already in the package, excellent option to demo the skill (our tripod standard for first class requirement is sustain your own weight without collapsion), aided line at pole base you should be fine. Other options using your vehicle(s) as anchor points.
