Do you think there would have been a different result with 1.6 or 2.4? I use a 1.0 for myself, but was wondering if my loaner hammock should be heftier material, in case the person I am loaning it to isn't as paranoid as i am. It seems like a metal nail clipper would nick any weight about the same, but I don't know. Thoughts?
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!

Yeah i dont hink any fabric under tension would do well with these guys pokin it. image.jpg im trying to get hexon tough enough i wont have to worry about Nox feet going through it. Probably null though, what with her being a 60ish# pit and all. Maybe with boots she'd be ok. Nail clippers will nom your hammock. Be warned

My bridge hammock is made from hexon 2.4oz. It's super strong, I've thrown my dog into it, he's about 40 pounds and his nails didn't even make a mark.

+1 on the Tenacious Tape. I patched three small holes in one of my earliest camping hammocks after scraping the loaded hammock over jagged rocks. The tears never extended. The hammock is still being used years later. The only caution about Tenacious Tape that I'd throw out is don't stick a tape mended hammock in the dryer. I notice the tape patches on my favorite old down jacket have gotten brittle, but I think it's because I've washed and dried the vest three or four times over the past three years since covering its thorn-brush tears with Tenacious Tape. The patches are still holding, but they've cracked a bit and aren't supple any more.

One other nice thing if you don't like alot of stretch in your hammock fabric, the 2.4 under my 150ib just doesn't stretch that I can notice, and shoulder squeeze is nonexistent.

I'd also try and tape it. Maybe even sew the best you can and tape over that? I almost had this happen with my keys the other day. The feeling is not so fun!

Sewing is going to add needle/thread holes. Darning I would guess would weaken the area.
My rat around sleep bag turned all around TQ, has ben patched for 7 or 8 years, been washed in a commercial washer on luke warm, dried on low heat for hours, without damaging Tenacious Tape. I am really amazed. My cat just ripped the sleeve of my favorite jacket, the damage is on the sleeve seam. I curious how the tape is going to work where it rubs ans flexes.
On things like hammick I put tape on the top and bottom.
