    Backyard Hang in Marietta GA

With forecasted lows at 25-26 tonight I figured it would be a good "next step" test for my quilts. Plus, it will give me another month in the 12 month challenge (8 for 8 so far.)

    TQ- MAMW Marcy 30+2
    UQ- UGQ Zeppelin 20

Last month I hung out back the temps got down to 34. I stayed warm most of the night and when I got chilly a lightweight fleece jacket did the trick.

I suspect I may need more than that this time, as my TQ is only rated to 30 and I did get chilly last time at 34. I will have a fleece throw blanket in reserve to add if/when I get chilly. I'm hoping that's all I need but if not the house is right there and my wife will be glad to help me warm up =)

I have a 0* HG TQ, bought from another forum member (for my wife, actually) but I'll wait for colder weather to test it. I'll have to decide then how to supplement my UQ too, I imagine.

    Anyone else getting out?

Or kick you out of the bed when you put those cold feet on her

I'm doing my cold weather test tomorrow night I think the low is 19 here in Alabama.
    I have
    HG 20° + 1oz incubator
HG 20° + 2oz in the foot box area and +1oz everywhere else

The lowest I've been so far is 38° and was fine except for my face and I had a black rock down beanie on and my head was warm. I've since ordered synthetic top and bottoms that's lined with fleece and a buff to cover my face. So 19 is going to be a good test of my gear

I wanted to sleep out tonight as it's supposed to get into the 20's the next two nights but my 0° under quilt isn't arriving till Saturday. I sleep way too cool to take my 3 season Lynx rated at 20° to near 20°. Oh well hopefully we will hit the 20's again but it doesn't happen a lot here. This is the first time I've ever rooted for cold weather

Going to Huntington state park in South Carolina to hang with Facebook group from palmetto state hangers . Suppose to be about 27 or so Friday night and about 30 Saturday night . Have a 0 degree underquilt but don't use it unless I'm going to backpack . Like the pad better in the ridge runner .

I'm wanting colder weather as well which is strange. We get a night in the teens and I'll be out again trying to see if I can survive lol.

First time I've ever heard someone say this. What pad do you have that will keep you warm in the winter? Why the pad over the under quilt.

My pad is from rei and is rated to about 5 degrees . I use a outdoor vitals 15 degree sleeping bag for my topquilt . Use the pad in the ridge runner to help get a little flatter lay . It all goes back to your personal preference .

I couldn't agree more. I may pick up one of these pads as the ones I've tried were so loud that I couldn't sleep and they were not warm at all. It's always fun to experiment.

Hoping to head out to the forest behind my house tonight. Only supposed to get down to 21* but with gusty wind up to 20 MPH. I've got 20* UQ and bag, but I sleep really warm. Might try a pad...I have an REI air rail 1.5. I've never tried it in the hammock before.

I wonder how it is we have come to this place in our society where art and nature are spoke in terms of what is optional, the pastime and concern of the elite?
