looking at this as a maybe how far in is the hike from parking? might have to build a pulk
welcome to planet earth no one gets out alive
Just starting to get a few things organized and wondered if you guys could chime in on what you bring. My plan is to come over Thursday night with Don and stay until Sunday. So my question is, as far as clothes go what do you guys pack: How many pairs of socks, pants, etc? I have some nice base layers, a wool coat, down vest and jacket, wool and synthetic pants (along with some snow pants).
I am hoping to get out and test my gear at Graves Crossing SFC on the weekend of Jan. 20 if anyone is up for some car camping. I made a separate thread for that if you are interested.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have. I want to get my system dialed in so I can make a gear list for future hangs.

I'm packed for this weekend, which will likely also mirror the GT hang. Here's my usual:
Hands
Outdoor Research PL150 gloves
Dakine Titan Mittens (wear over gloves = very warm)
Cheap work gloves for handling/cutting firewood
Feet
Rab vapor barrier socks (against skin, I don't wear a sock liner)
100% Wool socks (mid-heavy weight)
Salomon Toundra boots (pac boots if stupid cold, like negative digits for a high)
Snow shoes and/or microspikes
Possibly down booties for camp, but with a vapor barrier everything is always dry and sweat-free so I may just stick with the boots.
Dedicated Sleep Wear
Capilene 2 or 3 long underwear bottoms (depending on temps)
Capilene 3 zip top
Fleece cap
Wool socks
Enlightened Equipment booties for extra warmth (15-30° rated)
Fleece frost bib
Probably the 0° quilts
Daytime Wear
Capilene 2 bottoms
Columbia Ridge to Run snow pants
Capilene 3 zip top
100wt fleece jacket
Down jacket
Outdoor Research Revel hardshell in case of heavy snow, sleet, etc. Or as a windbreaker at the very least.
Fleece/wool cap
Sunglasses
Thanks guys! That makes me feel better about my choices. I still may overpack a bit but I could use a good workout. I sure got one last year on my solo adventure. I personally hate being cold so don't mind the extra weight for a couple hours of slogging vs being out in the cold for three days and freezing my butt off.
Has anybody else thought about some alternative shelters now that the cabins are no longer there? I have a pretty big tent fly I could bring (I also have the tent that goes with that but it is a heavy bugger).
BTW, I have a toilet seat that fits on a big bucket and will be bringing that with some kitty litter and extra heavy duty bags so we can have a privy, unless someone has a better option. (I will gladly take volunteers to haul away the remains)
Hey guys, I'd like to join the party!
I'm thinking I would like to join the hang at Green Timbers seeing its only 8 miles from home. Circle M ranch in Wolverine makes some GREAT BACON.
