For those who own both, is the Blackbird XLC more comfortable to sleep in than the Blackbird? For someone like me who is only 5'8"?

5'11" here and own two older WBBB's (1.7 DL and a 1.1 DL) and an XLC. All are nice. Do I notice much difference? Not really. the lay in the XLC is a bit flatter (YMMV). However there are some nice features on the XLC. The removable netting is one.

I would get the XLC in case you ever want to sell it. Greater demand as it will work with people of all heights.

I had both Blackbirds. I liked the shorter BB a bit better. I am short. Have no interest in totally removing the bug net. What I did find is I needed a lefty, that solved my peoblems wirh rhe BB.
By Lefty, you mean your head is to the right of the ridge line and your feet are to the left? Where is the zipper on that model?
All mine are the "standard", Head to left of the RL, feet to right. However at home in a bed, I sleep on my left side! Doing so in a hammoc means my face is often stuffed into the fabric.

Yes, head right, feet left.
There is a recent thread about left lay vs right (most people are right lay), rather interesting because most all the people posting were left lay folks.
Zipper on the lefty is right where I need it. Left lay is the mirror of the right lay. No net or nylon in or on my face.
thanks. so if you side sleep on your left side, the net and such is like "across the hammock" from you then......sounds like what I need to do.

I'm 5'8" and went for the XLC based on the extra area covered by the bugnet and the removable bugnet. I didn't try the regular WBBB but I have no regrets going with the XLC.
