I am SO pleased to meet you all! I had no idea you were out here or I would have sought you out long ago. :-)
I'm a life-long hammock sleeper. I started when I was a little kid in the early sixties when my grandfather gave me an old army surplus enclosed hammock. I slept in that both at home and at camp for years until it disintegrated and then I used a regular old canvas hammock with netting and a tarp draped over lines above it. Years went on and I married and had to spend most of the time in an indoor bed. In our culture people think there is something very wrong with you if you sleep alone when you are married. LOL! Eventually though, the pain in my body and the discomfort of trying to be "normal" and sleep together got to be too much and my darling husband was more than happy to let me return to hammock sleeping so he could sprawl across the whole bed and not listen to me complain. LOL! For several years I just slept outside, April through October. I was so miserable in the Winter though and I ended up in so much pain that I said the hammock had to come indoors. I bought a sturdy pipe style stand, re-arranged the living-room and have been sleeping in the hammock every night ever since. (The past 15 years.) We just moved and I have a BIG problem.... my 12 foot stand doesn't fit anywhere and Winter is coming. . . I'm searching for a solution.
