Wow, I didn't know this place existed! Everyone here thinks I'm crazy, glad to find you!

I am SO pleased to meet you all! I had no idea you were out here or I would have sought you out long ago. :-)
I'm a life-long hammock sleeper. I started when I was a little kid in the early sixties when my grandfather gave me an old army surplus enclosed hammock. I slept in that both at home and at camp for years until it disintegrated and then I used a regular old canvas hammock with netting and a tarp draped over lines above it. Years went on and I married and had to spend most of the time in an indoor bed. In our culture people think there is something very wrong with you if you sleep alone when you are married. LOL! Eventually though, the pain in my body and the discomfort of trying to be "normal" and sleep together got to be too much and my darling husband was more than happy to let me return to hammock sleeping so he could sprawl across the whole bed and not listen to me complain. LOL! For several years I just slept outside, April through October. I was so miserable in the Winter though and I ended up in so much pain that I said the hammock had to come indoors. I bought a sturdy pipe style stand, re-arranged the living-room and have been sleeping in the hammock every night ever since. (The past 15 years.) We just moved and I have a BIG problem.... my 12 foot stand doesn't fit anywhere and Winter is coming. . . I'm searching for a solution.

Welcome! What a story. So glad you found us. This is the place to geek out regarding all things hammock related. There are a few threads here that are stand related. I'm sure there is something that will accommodate.

I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

Welcome to hammock forums. Could you abandon the stand and use hooks in the walls?

Welcome to Hammock Forums! We're all kind of crazy here, but that's how we identify with one another and get along so well.

In regards to hanging indoors, I'm sure you'll find plenty of helpful tips in suggestions around here as that kind of thing has been discussed on a multitude of threads. Just out of curiosity, what style and size hammock are you using for sleeping indoors?

    Welcome

I would ditch the stand, and use wall attachments. You could do it with decorative flare if you wish. The beauty of wall to wall is you can move you hammock to one side during the day and have more space. Holes are very easy to fill in if you should move etc. ENO makes an Indoor Hammock Hanging Kit. Here are a copy links I am sure more Ideas will follow.

Welcome from Nashville, Tennessee!!! We welcome such abnormal people here! LOL

My wife tried hanging a few years ago on a backpacking trip and now whenever I ask whether she wants a tent or a hammock, she chooses hammock.
