This picture is a bit blurry so I can't make out the rip but I can see how this could happen if you do not unzip it far enough before you get in it.
I unzipped it down to where I usually do. I am 6'2" tall and have to to get into it.
got to. Camping season is about to begin
Were the bug net toggles secured in the loops at the ends of the hammock?

yes. My initial fear was that they were not connected but they were. I set it up because I had noticed that the stitching was coming apart around the shelf and was going to take a picture to send to Brandon and then this happened. Although I don't believe the two are related. I don't know. I have sent Brandon an email.
Can you be a bit more descriptive as to what happened?
Did you sit on the net while trying to ingress the hammock?
Was the net/zipper possibly snagged on anything?
Was there already a small hole in that location?
I cant see how this would happen from simply sitting down.
I have had a few holes form on my net as well, nothing like yours, but still holes the size of a quarter, and WB offered to let me purchase a new net for my XLC. They are interchangeable and not hammock specific as the WB website states. I had a problem with my net upon delivery, Brandon sent me a new one and it fit perfectly. YMMV.
“The word hammockable (Meaning: two trees that are the perfect distance apart between which a hammock can be hung) is not in the dictionary, but it should be.”
It may help if you would take a clear picture of the incident as well.
