Anyone have any experience, advice, reviews, etc. for guided canoe trips in Maine? Looking to maybe plan a trip next year. Thanks!

Wow, well OK Medic. Looks like it's just the two of us on that canoe trip. LOL Surprising. I thought we would get some info from some guys. Don't give up the ship just yet. We may still get some.

I can't help you guys with Maine, but look over on canoetripping.net, I believe member Yellow Canoe is from Maine and she may have some helpful advice.

The Guide cadre I knew have aged out like me. ;-) A quick google turned up:

    http://www.maineoutfitter.com/adventures/allagash.html

    http://www.allagashcanoetrips.com/

    http://www.canoethewild.com/maine-canoe-trips/

I just picked the first three. I'm sure there are more plus folks from away who go up there. The Allagash is well known trip. Gil Gillespie wrote a good guide book. These folks have good on line maps:

    http://www.northernforestcanoetrail.org/

I have not been. Might go yet. It depends on how my new knees work out.

As I understand it the trails are well marked so one can easily DIY. The problem is usually the shuttle involved. That service is also available from many sources. Many other trips are available. When Thoreau when through the first time in 1846 guiding was common and the trip was a common way for folks who would and could to spend a summer. Maine has been serving tourists longer than the Adirondacks! ;-))

If you want more advice or information put up some more specific questions.
    YMMV

Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)

I am reading this thread a little late. What kind of "guided trip" were you looking for? Just some ideas or an all out guided trip. Let me know, I may be able to point you in the right direction

Sorry spent 23 years living in western Maine canoe and kayak all over, but just my own thing.
