LOL!!! I love the owls and hawks except for when they are eating my chickens.

I was at the same spot a few months back tent camping and having a 45min conversation with an owl on a nice clear night. Heard a little scratching, grabbed my headlamp and saw a mouse had walked onto my tent. I shined the light on it just barely long enough to see claws, grey/brown feathers, and one happy owl. He hooted his thanks for highlighting dinner. I swear, I never even heard him glide down from the tree

Frozen Head has a huge number of Barred Owls. There was one summer that my family stayed in the campground and there had to be at least 30 owls calling back and forth through the whole park.

I average 3 a night in various conversations. I love listening to them and they are often brave enough to sit on branches by the hammock. I was worried they would be gone with the drought but they were out.

Got sat-tues off and may spend another night or two at frozen head. Option b is tossing the gear in a kayak and hitting a lake. Anyone interested in a pre-run?

I would if I didn't have plans this weekend. I have family coming in and gotta get caught up on things around the house, since I've had adventures pretty much every weekend for the past couple of months.

Gearing up for it. Ready to go but will need to be there early. Check in at the ranger station and we will meet at Judge Branch.

Temps to plummet to freezing Sat night. I don't have an underquilt for that low a range! Going to be interesting.

I need a head count for the 2 nights and if you are still coming.I will need to let the rangers know.
