I also base camp and do day hikes. Been tinkering with my gear. Use an HH classic entry in the summer but do like my Dutch 11' once the bugs are gone.

I have that same table and really like it because of it's adjustability. For a chair I use THIS one. It is a bit pricey but sits upright and with my mobility issues I need the arms on it. It packs down pretty small. I also have the leg extensions. Makes getting up/down a lot easier

Greetings from across the state, over in Sheboygan. Those last few still shots in your video are works of art, both in composition and the objects themselves. Good stuff.

I have an REI chair that I bring with, much like yours, and it's pretty comfortable. But I have to reposition myself every so often, or my legs fall asleep. That's the cost of portability. For me, it still beats sitting on the ground--but I'm considering a sit pad if I ever want to go lighter. I've seen on youtube guys build a backrest and use the sit pad, and it doesn't look terrible....

I wish I had property where I could set up a base camp, leave stuff there, and come and go at leisure. I should ask around to see if anyone has property nearby on which they'd let me run a base camp. Half an hour, 45 minutes away, that'd be perfect. I'd just want to go out there, sleep outside, learn some craft, read, and be able to leave some stuff there--properly protected, of course. The crazier the world becomes, the more I want to go out there.

I'm not much of a base camper, but at 56 years old, I might be there soon! Thanks for sharing.

That's a well provisioned base camp. Loved the wooden bowl in final still shots. Did you make that?

Base Camp security can become a problem once the local ridge runners discover your location so that you either have to try and hide your gear or pack it out.
SilvrSurfr....Recovery takes longer after you hit the mid fifties but should not slow you down.
I carved the bowl and turtle cup but now prefer to carve spoons for they are easier on old hands.
