I'll be going this weekend to hopefully avoid the holiday crowd.

Working on my 100 miles on the NCT before year's end.

I had every intention of trying the new Half-wit and KAQ UQ in the back yard, but my yard stand isn't long enough for the Dutch Bling.... now i'm gonna have to convince the Mrs. to let me find a trail somewheres....

I was talking to my brother the other day about this trip we have coming up, and he reminded me of something that I had completely forgotten about. If the campsite I intend to occupy is already taken by some other hikers, there's another one (and possibly a better one) upstream that's right by a small waterfall. It's pretty well hidden, so the likelihood of someone occupying that spot is slim. We shall see, but either way I'm itching to get out there. One more week...

I'll be heading out bright and early friday morning for my first ever backpacking trip. Taking my hammock, tarp and diy quilts. I'll be out for 4 days 3 nights on the Superior Hiking Trail. I've done some meticulous planning, although I'm sure I'll forget something. I cant wait to get out and enjoy some overnights finally!

Wound up having to work on Monday, but will be celebrating Labor Day the following Monday in the Smokies, car camping with the family at Cataloochee. Seeing the elk has been on my list for a while now.

I'll be lightly swaying to the breezes that blow up off the Blue ridge parkway in Pisgah.... Friday through Sunday

Update: Car/base camping at The Pocket in NW GA with my nephew and his GF. Some slack hiking on some pretty cool trails like the Estelle Mine Trail and through Rocktown (a poor man's Rock City, if I understand correctly). This will make us 6 for 6 on the 12 Nights challenge. Can't wait!

I am heading out to Panthertown in NC for an easy walk in. Set up a basecamp and day hike on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning. I have only gone to Panthertown for short day hikes before. Looking forward to exploring this area in greater detail.
