I don't know if you've noticed, but this week temps dipped across the country (in August!) - most cities are experiencing a low in the 40's. And as mentioned, in the mountains, it will most definitely be colder.
So...? What did you decide?
I think I will get a 20 degree partial for next year
one of the coldest nights I ever spent was in late June hanging behind the Overmountain Shelter on the AT. I had my 40* set (EE top/DIY bottom).
I woke up completely enveloped in cloud whistling straight through my tarp at about 20 miles an hour. I don't know what the actual temperature was but wind and humidity will tear the bottom right out of your comfort rating...
Depending on temps I will either use a fleece sleeping bag in its traditional manner, or as a TQ with a PLUQ from late may to early September.

I'd quote a certain book, but that is not allowed.
Since I mostly hang in the WV mountains and it can get rather nippy even in the summer, I usually use a 3-season Yeti UQ and a hammock gear 40 degree burrow TQ (with 1 extra oz of down). If I am pretty sure the temps will stay in the 40's I will use a full-length 40 degree UGQ UQ with the same TQ. Rarely, I will use a 40 degree partial UQ and the burrow (I use this when the temps should stay in the 50's)
I have a HG Incubator 40 and really like it. Leave it loose on the ends in it's really warm.
That's the funny thing... When I'm faced with dealing with near-freezing or sub-freezing temperatures, I ain't dealing with no partial-length underquilt. I find my short UQs invaluable for most of the year, but when the cold environments can actually hurt you instead of merely make you uncomfortable, I want a full-length quilt under me to eliminate the fiddle factor, the cold spots, and the 3AM adjustments... Oh well, that's just my $0.02... Everyone HYOH.
So I get to try out my summer setup this weekend - this will be the warmest for me yet in my first year of hanging.
I have a 20-30 degree rated 3/4 UQ (JRB Greylock 3) and a JRB shanendoah TQ that can also be rigged as an UQ - rated I think about 45 or 50 degrees.
My plan this weekend is to simply bring the shanendoah as an UQ and a thin fleece blanket for on top. Temps will be starting at night in low or mid 70's and drop to mid or low 60's
I'll probably bring along my Greylock as a backup as I have not yet ever used the shanendoah as an UQ yet.

Got the KamSnaps on my summer set... takes apart for individual use in warmer situations
CDT inside a NatureHike 180LW synth-bag outta HongKong
Both bags individually draw-stringed for footboxes... no snaps/gathers above the footboxes since most nights I'm venting heat anyway... full width and length on both, but I put 4" ripstop channels across both footends to make the drawstring gathers, so finished length is about 74"
