Length of DIY hammock for a small person

I'm 5 ft tall, petite. Is there a measurement calculation to determine the length of my hammock? Is 10-11 ft the standard size?
I have not ordered fabric yet and am currently in the planning stage.
Will size also affect weight resistance? (In case my husband tries it) My husband is 6ft and has is own HH Expedition. No sharing of hammock planned however I suspect he will wish another one given that the bug net is not removable and the bottom entry is becoming slight annoying.

I would think A 10 footer would work for your height. As a point of reference Warbonnet hammocks recommends their Blackbird which is a 10 ft hammock for hangers that are under 6 feet, and an 11 foot XLC for hangers over 6 ft.

Hi Water&Sky.....here's a link to "Just Jeff's" and he talks about sizing....

You may not want a 7 foot hammock (5ft + 2ft). If you whip the ends, I'd shoot for 10 feet like TrailSlug suggests. You can always shorten it to test smaller sizes. You may find something around 7-8 ft is perfect for you. Good Luck.

Fabric is cheap they're easy to make. Perhaps make a 10 or 11 footer then perhaps a smaller size. Your size you can make lightest of hammock fabric single layer.

It's nice to have a few hammocks in the locker.

Just have them all compatible with your suspension.

Thank you. Great idea to start at 10 ft and then play with the suspension system and edge folding to modify the length.
