    First Hammock

Decided I wanted to join you folks off the ground, so I figured I try to make one of these hammock things...

Looks really good and comfortable. What are the specs such as material, length, width? Was this your first time making a hammock? If so that's an outstanding job.

Thanks! It was my first time making anything remotely like this, and I'm super happy how it turned out.

I used 1.6 robic for the black and camo materials.

The dimensions are roughly 57" wide and 115" long.

Ridge line is zing it, continuous loops fed through the end channels for the suspension.

I have some toggles, woopie slings, Dutch beaners, and tree straps from Dutch to fill out the suspension pieces.

The bug net uses .9 noseeum mesh and Dutch's 208 inch 2 way zipper; which I have to say works like a dream!

Angles are for engineers! I just decided I wanted a 15 inch long(measured along the ridge line) triangle so I strung up the hammock at a decent pitch and then measured from the ridge line to the hammock material. I took that measurement and doubled it to get the base length of the triangle.

From those two measurements I got my triangle( don't forget about the hem allowance)

Awesome job, Rich! Isn't the satisfaction of reclining in your own hammock great?
"We are the greatest bulldozers to walk erect. Will we ever permit Mother Nature–truly our mother–to do her thing, undisturbed and unmarred? Will we ever be content to play a passively observant role in the universe, and leave off this unceasing activity? I do not wish man in control of the universe. I wish nature in control, and man playing only his just role as one of its inhabitants."

Made another one for the wife, I think my tarp will end up working with a spreader bar.
