First DIY pending - Hexon 1.6 ordered

This forum is awesome! What a great resource and community.

I've been lurking here for a while after borrowing a hammock (ENO double) from a friends for a 3 day canoe trip.

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered 4 yards of Hexon 1.6 with CLs and 110" ridge line from Dutch for DIY.

I'll be practicing on the DIY kit from ripstopbytheroll first.

Also went with mule tape and tree straps from anti gravity for suspension.

Temporary tarp will be my rain fly from eureka a frame tent. Will decide on DIY or buy later. Same with UQ (pad for now).

    Can't wait!

Hammock gear DIY is quite fun, and very rewarding. And I agree, from what I hear, you'll like that Hexon 1.6. I'd like to try some of it for a hammock myself after I use up some of this Multicam Epsilon 1.55 I have on hand... So many choices!

I have some 1.6 hyperD on the way from Ripstop By The Roll. Noseeum mesh and zippers as well. Can't wait to start on my new hammock. You will enjoy using gear you made yourself. It gives me such satisfaction every time I lay back in my hammock or use my stove or any of the other gear I've made. One diy and you're hooked!

Kev, saw your post on hyperD coming....I was very close to ordering it. I haven't been in a hyperD hammock, but I have a sample from the RBTR DIY kit and it feels great. I could have easily went that way and would like to try it on a future project.

With the mule tape... I'd suggest going with the J-Bend knot over the becket hitch. Easier to undo and easier on the mule tape.

Been a long time, but I finally finished my first (two) DIY hammocks. 1.6 hex (in black) from Dutch and no sew (3 minute option) table cloth (purple) hammock per the ultimate hang.

The j bend is working great with both the mule tape (black hammock in photos) and 1" tree straps (purple hammock in photos) attaching to amsteel continuous loops. Thanks!
