Exclamation HELLO!! new here, quick questions

Long time tarp/bivy set up, making my way into hammocks. Friend bought an double nest eno for me for my birthday and have recently discovered the wonders of actually sleeping in it. So far i have been sleeping on beaches so no problems with bugs yet but that is soon to change.

I have been ultralight backpacking for awhile now and have been using my fathers rectangular tarp and he has been bugging me to get my own. I absolutely love the thing it works so so so well in inclement weather, but!!! If i buy a hex tarp that is more suited to hammock camping will i ever be able to use it for a trip where i leave behind my hammock and opt in for the bivy? Or will i have to go back and borrow the trusty rectangular tarp.

Im looking to buy into the cuben fiber tarp here so i only want to have to buy it once and the idea is for all purpose.

A hex tarp should work fine for hammock or ground use. I prefer that cut since I feel that it offers the best protection to weight ratio amongst the different cuts.
