He is 40lbs and while he is a cuddler, he is also and Australian Shepherd and would be panting within 5 minutes due to the hair and bouncing the whole hammock.

He would be good sleeping on the ground with a little down bed into the 0 degree F range i would guess. We snowshoe in -20 with -40 windchill and he doesnt even show one sign of being cold. I know he is moving but still.

Also, having Rick with Cave Creek Hammocks making a prototype netting down from the ridgeline to the ground with bathtub style bottom so he is safe from bugs and don't have to tie him up. I know rick will come through for me.

So if we ever get to a point if that cold a hang, he may stay up in there with me a little longer.

He cant even sleep in the bed with us cus he gets too hot

Would it be okay if I can only make one night? I am not sure yet if that will happen but it is always easier to get away for one night instead of two.

Of course! Making it for a night is way better than not making it at all!
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.

Mine is 60lbs and sleeps in the 'mock with me. As did her uncle before her. Originally thought I would need full sized UQs to keep them warm. Have come to realize that they need about half as much insulation as me.

Also, having Rick with Cave Creek Hammocks making a prototype netting down from the ridgeline to the ground with bathtub style bottom so he is safe from bugs and don't have to tie him up. I know rick will come through for me.
Please keep us appraised on that project!

Ok, I have no idea how cold this Texas boy is going to be. I don't have the gear needed, but I can pack enough blankets to survive and the da shack is warm, then why not. If I am still here in Illinois in December, I will make this hang.

I sleep with a pad and 20 degree bag. If some one wants to lend me an UQ I would be grateful. I will be able to fly one of my extra 20 degree bags back with me from Texas on my next trip home.

Pictures from the last one looks fun. Looking forward to it.

Mine being a hunting dog and my being a lifelong hunter, we look forward to curious critters.

I really want to do this, and have it on my calendar so I can fend off work stuff. I'll have used my hammock a couple of times by then, I hope, but I'm a noob. I ordered a Cayenne Pepper UQ (25*) and Jalapeno Pepper TQ (also 25*), and the nice woman at Loco Libre is stitching away! I guess it'll depend on the weather, whether that's enough! I do tend to sleep warm. I could always bring by NorthFace 0* mummy bag as additional warmth, and use my TQ over that. I have a Hennessy Deep Jungle XL (I'm a tall guy), with the bubble insulator pad.
