Sat/Sun Sept 17-18th. How about Paradise Lake off the PCT near Boreal (I-80). It is a 6.1 mile one-way trip if we park at the very end of the dirt road. Add 2 miles if you park on pavement. Beautiful lake with trees and several islands. Last time I was there we got blown away with the wind, so I'd like to go back on a calmer weekend.

    Carpool anyone?

I count 5 participants so far (including myself). My husband (a ground dweller) is considering coming also. I plan on driving all the way up the dirt road to the very end. This saves 2 miles of dirt road travel. We can meet either at the end of the paved road (often crowded), partway up, or at the very end. There are some bad sections on the dirt road, but my husband's one-wheel drive S-10 made it up. If someone has a 4-wheel drive and is willing to let people pile gear and bodies aboard for a trip to the end (and back at the finish) that will work also.

Next question(s): Do we want to combine some gear and/or food, or do we want to be completely independent on these. Gear we can sort out at the trailhead, food we should plan ahead. Carpooling from the Bay Area? Carpooling from the Sacramento area?

Current list of those interested. Looks like 4 at this time. Anyone want to carpool? I live in Woodland and will take 5 to 80, but can meet Garyg763 in Davis. Or we can all meet in Roseville if we want to carpool up the hill. I plan on driving to the very end of the dirt road.

Do we want to go group on food? Stoves? Water filters? The only thing group we would have to plan ahead on is food. The rest we can look at and decide at the trailhead.

Last decision is when to meet. I vote for fairly early (say 9 am at trailhead) to make parking simpler and give us more lake time.

    Garyg763 - Bay Area

I'm still planning on going at this time, but seem to be down to one other person. Only person on the prior list I haven't heard from is Natemeister. Everyone else has given regrets. If I don't hear from Natemeister I might go diving instead.

Don't give up. I will definitely go on a future trip. Just moved to the Bay area from Chicago and looking for an opportunity to hang in some beautiful setting (not too heavy hiking)

I'll try again next summer. Everyone else eventually gave regrets, and I didn't want to go alone. I'll have fun diving (an activity that has been too long ignored) instead. Might hang at Veteran's park for the overnight.

Same as above, I'd definitely be down to go on a trip... Maybe test out some easy California winter camping
