I never wear earplugs, but I may bring some this time being right smack in the middle of the national guard reservation. I think this is the time of year they like to blow stuff up at midnight and empty the .50 cal machine "g words" at dawn. BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOOMMMMMMM!
Duly noted
Luckily, "Northern Strike 2016" isn't scheduled until August 1-20, so it should be relatively quiet. As a kid, I always (and still do) get a kick out of seeing the convoys heading north for training at Camp Grayling. Earplugs are always a good idea, since those in our group who shall remain nameless, do have a tendency to sound like the Battle of the Bulge with their snoring or during use of the outhouse.
I came across this news story from 2014 about a National Guard helicopter accidentally dropping a 4 town howitzer from 700 feet. Now, that's what I call a widowmaker. Note to those attending: watch for helicopters carrying howitzers.

Carry on
I know I'm not allowed to play weatherman this time but let me just say I'm glad we're not going next week. Hopefully mother nature will get this out of her system before our trip!
'Ring of Fire' over Michigan next week as torrid heat wave develops in Midwest
Go to your corner for a timeout . It's July, it's going to be hot. But, the lake is nearby for cooling options. 86 degrees here today after a couple days in the 90's. Looks like I may be a Thursday night arrival. Keeping fingers crossed.
Haha. I'm from South Carolina, so this will be nothing compared to what I'm used to.
