    Letchworth Trail...no hammocks allowed?

I just called the letchworth state park to reserve the north lean to on the letchworth trail. I have been going there for several years and never had anyone tell me I had to sleep in the lean to. She told me no tents, I said fine then she says no hammocks either. What is happening? In fact last year they made a mistake with our reservation and people were already at the lean to so they asked if we had tents to stay in since we couldn't use the lean to. I know it won't be a problem since we hardly ever see anyone back there anyway, but this is something new.

Is Letchworth a NY DEC park? Check out https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...C-campgrounds?.

Unfortunately, Letchworth (even the portion that is on the FLT) is a NYS Park:

...and so attaching anything to a tree is officially prohibited. I wasn't aware of the issue with tents near the lean-to, but I've seen it and there isn't a lot of ground space nearby to tent.

This wasn't an issue last year. I even car camped in the Letchworth state park campground with several hammocker's twice last year and no one said a word.

Gah! Fixed link. As for it being an issue, I think most folks would agree that a lot of these problems depend upon the rangers who are doing the enforcing.

Another "too many people not enough space issue" it seems. It's time to bale to more hammock friendly areas.
