    My Frist DIY

hex 12 tarp from RSBTR. I just cut the fabric in half and started with a 12x10 tarp went in 36" put tie outs on and now I can close ends up if it gets windy or rainy. I also put side pulls halfway between the bottom edge and the ridge line so I can put my hiking poles across to keep the sides from getting blown in, in the wind or to keep the water from pooling on the tarp.this my old sleeping bag I had when I was a kid. Put a Channel down the sides and on each end with shock cord. It a little heavy but works good .this is the start of the tarp 12x10.

Well done! It's so satisfying hanging on/under gear you made yourself, isn't it?

Well done - that looks great!

How was it working with the Sil? I've just recently started making some gear but I'm terrible with a thread injector. Sil just seems like it'd be a pain to sew.

Nice job. I haven't done a tarp yet but it's on the list. I did do pretty much the same with an old sleeping bag and as you said, works well but it is on the heavy side.
    Keep up the good work.

Forgive the possible newbie question...what did you do with the blue painters tape? I just got done sewing my first tarp last night. Tonight I just need to finish the corner reinforcements and put D rings on.

Instead of using pins I used strips of painters tape and just sowed over the tape then pulled it off in two pieces. For the ridge I pined it and it did not look as good as when I used tape. The silpoly was too slippery to pin for my likening. Hope this is helpful.
