Yes it's north of Orlando about a 45 minute drive.
I'll chime in since no one mentioned my favorite spots. I visited Fish Eating Creek. I came down 2 years ago rented a kayak for the week. Spent 4 days at Fish Eating Creek and 3 days on the Myakka. I posted a review somewhere. Oh well, I posted them and still can't find it.
Hanging in the woods, paddlin and catching trout- My kind of living...
Clearwater lake is real nice. We hike the ONF all the time. If you follow the blazes, from Clearwater to Alexander, it is an easy day hike ( I think right around 10ish miles) that brings you though all different kinds of wilderness. Lots of wildlife too.
But at Clearwater, site 13 is our favorite too. It is perfect for car camping, no crowds, quiet nights, good services.
