    First night in my hammock

This past weekend I finally got a chance to put my ENO up and slept in it for the first time. It got down into the low 40's. With my 20 deg sleeping bag and my sleeping pad I was nice and warm. Slept like a baby! Much more comfortable than I expected.

Really the only issue I came across was with the ridge line for the bug netting. ENO gives you 10' that doesn't seem to be long enough. I ended up tiring the ridge line into my straps. This can't be correct?

Structural ridge lines are usually about 83% of the overall length of the hammock to give it the proper sag for diagonal lay, but a lot of people like it longer or shorter so don't be afraid to find what works best for you.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

Thanks for the info. I thought the ENO ridge line was supposed to go from tree to tree. I see most have it at the gathered ends of the hammock.

Correct. It should be at the ends of the hammock. The purpose of a RL is to help keep bugnets off you or to hang items from, like a RL organizer.

Another type is the SRL (structural ridge line). It's the same thing as a RL, but it also helps to keep the correct hang angle, about 30* from the tree, anchor point. This can take some stress so it needs to be a strong line like Zing-it/Lash-it or 7/64th Amsteel or such.

So, from the tree, if the straps are not at the desired 30* angle to the hammock, the hammock can still be at the 30* with the use of a SRL.

    Hope this helps.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I have a eno as well
I got a longer length of zing it but have also done it the way you have with zero issues
Well except for one time when I had a few to many and flipped right over and out the back of hammock and was trapped inside the burnet
    Oh joy
    Happy hangin
