Kevlar kite string. 1000lb rating. eBay has it, China sources. I'll cut and weigh a foot of it. You can get 1500lb and higher as well. It's very soft feeling like the Kevlar straps.

    Why Kevlar over Dyneema?
    I see that 1000lb stuff is 2.5mm.
    Cheaper, I guess.

The idea was to use a line that wouldn't deform at the anchor or speed hook. Bonus is that the is no stretch either.

The 1000lb Kevlar is 1gram per foot, a foot of 7/64 amsteel is 1.5g a foot.
Not the same strength but it's what I have on hand.
As I mentioned I just wanted to see if it would maintain it's shape without
being compressed like the amsteel does.

Man I really hope the kevlar holds up with the speed hooks. I love using the speed hooks on my hammock stand, unfortunately they do tear up dyneema. I had a line snap and drop me on my butt a few weeks ago.

Thanks for providing the specs on the string. I'm definitely interested and might have to order some and do a little testing as well with my hammock anchors.

To those testing the Kevlar string: please also test for lost strength in direct sunlight.

Kevlar is prone to UV degradation. Dutch has found with his Kevlar tree straps, that they will lose up to 50% of their breaking strength after just 450 hours of use in direct sunlight. I don't know if these Kevlar lines are UV protected, but if not and if you combine the degradation with chewed up lines on speed hooks, failure might be more likely to happen.

I think anyone using a single line suspension isn't going to leave their gear hanging out in the sun in place of straps. It's a light hiking sort of suspension replacement. But noted
