What hem on a superfly ridgeline?

OK, I have searched every phrase I can think of and they are all simply too common to find what I am looking for. I am sewing up a couple of winter tarps for my boys, similar to my superfly and want to know what hem is used UNDER the grosgrain on the ridgeline. I love my superfly and the last tarp I made (that I sold to fund the fabric for this one, I made basically bullet proof. This time around, I am going for lighter rather than super bullet proof so I want to duplicate that ridgeline design because it really seems to work well even without a seal added. SOOOO what is under that grosgrain for a hem or is it simply sandwiched together...

I think it's just a french seam. Appendix D, Step 2. You then simply fold the grosgrain over the edge and sew.

Then again, I could be wrong.

Here's what I do and I think others have done to imitate it, but I cant really say this is how Warbonnet does it.
    1) put the 2 sides together (right sides facing out) and stitch a row about an 1/8 inch from the top edge
    2) fold the grosgrain over this top seam and stitch near the bottom of the grosgrain (I use 3/4 inch grosgrain). Some iron the grosgrain first to get a center crease.

I have not had to seam seal one yet. Hopefully, Boston will chime in. I think he has a lot more experience with this than I do.

I believe it is just a simple seam, not a French seam, as described in the second post.

Just a point of vocabulary useful to your google foo... a "hem" is found along the sides of the fabric. A hem is the bottom of a dress, or shirt or the edge of a tarp. It finishes off an edge. A "seam" joins two or more pieces of fabric together. The place in question is a "seam" and there are many styles to choose from. For bomb proof... a Flat Felled Seam or its is close cousin a Felled French Seam is hard to beat. Both encase the raw edges so fraying is not an issue. Both are among the strongest seams around. There are ample tutorials on how to make them so I;ll not go inot that. Using the proper terminology always helps in finding the desired information.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
